1-ethynyl-2-methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline (3h) 

This compound was prepared according to general procedure and isolated by column chromatography (ethyl acetate/hexane = 1/6) to give the product as an orange oil (68 mg, 80%). 

1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 7.29 – 7.10 (m, 4H, Ar-H), 4.51 (br s, 1H, CH), 3.02 – 2.92 (m, 2H, CH2), 2.89 – 2.80 (m, 1H, CH2), 2.74 – 2.65 (m, 1H, CH2), 2.56 (s, 3H, CH3), 2.41 (d, J = 2.3 Hz, 1H, C≡CH); 

13C NMR (101 MHz, CDCl3) δ 134.8, 133.4, 129.0, 127.4, 127.1, 126.0, 81.6, 74.2, 56.1, 48.2, 43.5, 28.7; 

HRMS (EI) m/z calcd. for C 12 H 13 N 171.1048; found 171.1042
