4-methyl-2-phenylbenzoxazole (2b) [ref] White solid, 39mg, isolated yield 94%. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 8.17 (dd, J = 6.6, 3.0 Hz, 2H), 7.49 – 7.37 (m, 3H), 7.30 (d, J = 8.0 Hz, 1H), 7.14 (t, J = 7.7 Hz, 1H), 7.04 (d, J = 7.5 Hz, 1H), 2.59 (s, 3H). 13C NMR (100 MHz, CDCl3) δ 162.2, 150.4, 141.3, 131.2, 130.5, 128.8, 128.7, 128.7, 127.5, 127.3, 124.9, 124.6, 107.8, 16.5.
