3-Pyridylboronic acid was prepared in high yield and bulk quantity from 3-bromopyridine via a protocol of lithium−halogen exchange and “in situ quench”. This technique was further studied and evaluated on other aryl halides in the preparation of arylboronic acids.

compd4=   The checkers obtained trispyridylboroxin in various hydration levels (0.85 - 1.0 H2O). A satisfactory melting point for this solid could not be obtained. 1H NMR pdf (400 MHz, CD3OD): δ 7.66 (br s, 1H), 8.38 (d, J=6.6, 1H), 8.51 (dd, J=1.2, 4.4, 1H), 8.61 (br s, 1 H). 1H NMR spectra were complicated in other solvents such as CDCl3 and DMSO-d6. Anal Calcd. for C15H12B3O3N3 · 1.0H2O: C, 54.15; H, 4.24; N, 12.63. Found: C, 53.95; H, 3.91; N, 12.35. Yield based on this formula is 85%. The submitters report obtaining the product in 91% yield.

2. Urban Cafe, Panaji

Tucked away in Panjim’s Latin Quarter is this cosy, two floor hide-out that has become the favourite hang-out for freelancers and solo travellers.The ground floor space is light-filled and welcoming but you can head upstairs for a cosier ambience with dim lights, dark walls and bottomless sofas that suck you in and never want to let you go. This is a great stopover for a cold coffee, a brownie and a long chat with your best buddy. Pssst... There’s a magazine rack full of great reads. A drink and a brownie will cost you around INR 250.

3. Ruta's, Mapusa

If you’re dying for a decent cappuccino and sandwich in the area, then Ruta’s is your best bet. Located next to FabIndia, it’s a great stopover in between shopping. Try the Quesadilla if you’re in the mood for melted cheese and don’t leave without trying the Sticky buns. You’ll be craving it even after the last morsel is gone. Coffee and a main dish will cost you about INR 600.

4. Baker's Studio, Baga

Craving a great morning fry-up that you don’t have to make yourself? Then head over to Baker’s studio in Tito’s lane, Baga. It’s great for taking the edge off those morning-after hangovers and sliding slowly into your day after a hard night of Goa-style partying. Order a lip-smacking British fry-up with fried eggs on toast, two slices of bacon, sausage, beans, mushrooms and a slow-cooked tomato to top it off, all for just INR 300.

5. Bodega, Panaji

If you’re looking for a quiet, artsy place with a bit of romance to it (and free wifi), you can’t go wrong with Cantina Bodega set atop Altinho. Lining the courtyard of Sunaparanta – Goa Centre for the Arts, it’s the perfect place to go for a breezy catch-up with friends or a comforting break after a hectic week. You can even drop in for a late Sunday breakfast here with waffles, pancakes and even Eggs Benedict to order. Or you can settle in for a pizza or fresh salad. Some say the red velvet cupcakes are to die for! A meal costs roughly INR 600.

6. Cherry Tomato Cafe at Carpe Diem, Majorda

This little art cafe is buried in the heart of Majorda, deep in the annals of a nineteenth century Portuguese mansion. The renovated old place now houses Carpe Diem, an art centre that exhibits paintings and holds workshops and creative events of all types. It also has one of the best cafes in South Goa, with a smattering of tables in the little garden at the back, surrounded by works of art on display. Order the Boozy Banana shake as a starter and the Cubano pulled pork sandwich as a follow-up for about INR 450 together. You’ll need a short nap after to recover from your tasty meal!

7. Lila Cafe, Anjuna

The thatched roof and bamboo chairs give it a picturesque, light, airy setting and a real laid back feel to this little gem, located on the Calangute-Arpora-Siolim road. Delicious, buttery croissant sandwiches are the mouth-watering munchies to order here. But there’s plenty of other food to tempt the palate with hot breakfasts, tempting smoothies and finger-licking apple pie on the menu too. It’s the kind of place to pick if you want somewhere quiet to read your latest novel or want to meet up with friends for a good gossip session.

8. Cafe Chocolatti, Candolim

When you think of Cafe Chocolatti, think of ordering the cream tea complete with home-made scones and fresh strawberry jam. The cafe is nestled within a high walled garden, giving it a secluded feel where you can just get away from the hustle and bustle for a few hours while you grab a light lunch or a snack and a coffee. A spinach and mushroom savoury crepe with a chocolate shake will cost just under INR 500.

9. Natti's Naturals, Arpora

This health food store has an organic cafe that all health-conscious folks will love. You’ll find it on a quiet stretch along the Anjuna-Calangute route. The cafe adjoining the store serves salads, burgers, gluten-free desserts and fresh fruit juices combining unique aromatic flavours.

2. Peppers Gourmet Cuisine

Tucked away in one corner of the Margao suburb of Pajifond lies Peppers, serving Margao residents for decades with their local favourites. Evenings are lively with music or other events. Order the Cheese and Spinach stuffed mushrooms and Squid Chilly fry for starters. For mains, you can’t go wrong with any of the Goan dishes on offer or fresh seafood cooked the way you like it. The sizzlers and steaks are pretty good too. They even have a rare diet menu of succulent meat and fish preparations, grilled or steamed to perfection, with olive oil as an added option and served with tasty vegetables. This is a great place to take children to, especially on ‘Magic nights’ when Clifford the Illusionist goes from table to table performing for customers.

3. Britto's

When Britto’s first started in 1961 it had only four tables. Five decades later, Britto’s reputation for using fresh, excellent quality ingredients has spread far and wide. Tourists and celebrities alike flock to eat sumptuously at this restaurant. Try the Vindaloo or the Crab curry, for something different. The seafood platter, which includes fresh crab, mussels and shrimp, is a specialty here and make sure you leave some space in your tummy for dessert. The restaurant has live entertainment, karaoke nights and BBQ evenings so call ahead to plan your perfect night out. The restaurant is well located on the beach, so after a great dinner you can head out to hit the popular bars and clubs that Calangute and Baga are known for.

4.Viva Panjim

This little Indo-Portuguese house has been converted into an eatery that is completely booked out during lunch and dinner. Viva Panjim is tucked away in a by-lane of Fountainhas veering off 31st January road. The restaurant is decked with nostalgic items like vintage mirrors and antique Portuguese furniture and there’s a small clutch of tables set out in the balcony. If you have a hankering for Prawn Curry and rice then you’ve hit the jackpot because this joint ladles up a mouth-watering curry concoction that will haunt your dreams long after you’ve mopped up the last morsel with pao. Head here after a hard day’s shopping in Panjim.

A feeling of cosy warmth envelops you as you enter Nostalgia, and the odd knick-knacks on the wall just add to that feeling that you’ve entered a home rather than a well-established restaurant. Nostalgia is redolent of Goan hospitality and the food is a great testament to that fact. This is where you can order the harder-to-get-a-hold-of Goan dishes like Rissois and Apa-de-Camarao, local vegetarian favourites like Ambadeanchem (hog plum) and Veg pulao as well as home-made Alle-Belle and hard to find Sans Rival. Calling all seafood lovers! This elegant beach-side structure is like a large shack by the sea but with plenty of shade and open enough to let the sea breeze run through your hair. You can listen to the waves lap against the shore while you sip an Urrak cocktail and enjoy your choice of seafood, Zeebop’s specialty. This is the place for crab, prawns, lobster, oysters, mussels and other seasonal shellfish that you might be craving. The chicken steaks are juicy, tender and wonderfully prepared. Choose from a variety of desserts including the layered coconut dessert Bebinca and Creme caramel, two Goan favourites. The soothing, refined ambience will distract you for only a moment before you get tempted by the menu of Goan favourites from both the Hindu and Christian kitchens, blended with Portuguese style items. Vegetarians will enjoy sampling local vegetarian cuisine – order the Tambde bhaji (red spinach) or Bimbli Udamethi made with roasted coconut and spices. The non-veg and seafood options are fantastic too. For something really rich and special try the Lobster Recheiado which is lobster stuffed with hot, red local masala ground with tamarind and vinegar.

People flock to Furtado’s for the seafood and stay for the laid-back ambience and the irresistible sea view. There’s not much else around so you can enjoy a lovely uninterrupted lunch or dinner while sipping a cold beer after your dip in the sea. Key recommendations are the Kingfish Rawa masala fry, the Beef steak and the Butter Garlic calamari. Furtado’s also run a small, no-frills attached guest house – perfect for beach-bum wannabes. That’s one way to enjoy breakfast on the beach!
